The town of Costa Calma, well known in tourism, is located in the municipality of Pájara, which is the most southern of the six municipalities of Fuerteventura and is situated mostly on the Jandía peninsula, adjoining Betancuria to the north and Tuineje to the northeast. The municipality is formed by the following villages: Morro Jable, Costa Calma, Solana Matorral, La Lajita, Pájara, Ezquinzo, La Pared, Piedras Caidas, Toto, Ajuy, Cardon, Mal Nombre, Punta Jandía and Chilegua. The administrative centre of the municipality in Pájara is quite prosperous due to the income generated by the tourist centres from Costa Calma to Morro Jable. Costa Calma is a predominantly tourist town, built along the golden sandy beach at the end of the 1970s. Especially among German tourists, the place is very popular with many cafés and small shops. The village beach stretches for about 1.5 kilometres and is popular by families due to its location in a sheltered bay and the correspondingly calm water. In total, the beach stretches almost 30 kilometres to the south of the island.
